As you know I have had trouble everytime I add a Cyclic Modifier. You mentioned the first time that I probably had a keyframe spopmewhere outside of the 0 to 32 frame range. I found that I had one around frame 250. After trying to figure out why I always had this problem I noticed that when I copy and paste a curve to frame 32, somehow it also pastes that at close to frame 250. Everytime! I do not paste anything there so I don’t understand why Blender is doing this. All I can do is constantly check for this extra frame everytime I paste. I guess I can live with it but it is weird that this happens.
Hi Jerry. Another question. When I extend the front leg forward at around the 10 minute mark in the video, the heels of feet both raise up on my model where they remain flat on the ground in the video. I tried a nu ber of things but can’t seem to spot the problem. I am sending you the file in an email with a screenshot. Can you take a look at it for me? Thanks
I reviewed your project file and found three points to address:
1. The custom property ‘IK_stretch’ on your ‘CTR_setting_F.L’ control is set up opposite to the tutorial. In the tutorial, a value of 1 enables stretch, but in your setup, a value of 1 restricts stretch, meaning you’d need to set it to 0 to match the tutorial. This isn’t actually an error—just something to keep in mind as you work.
2. When the leg is in a restricted stretch state, if it moves too far forward, the foot might lift off the ground. This is normal. If you’d like the foot to stay on the ground, you can adjust the ‘CTR_shoulder.L’ controller. Moving it forward slightly when the leg extends forward will help keep the foot grounded.
3. Currently, the ‘IK_stretch’ property only functions on the left leg in your project; it doesn’t work on the right leg. After checking, I found that the driver on the right leg is missing, likely due to an oversight during the leg mirroring process. You’ll need to fix this. For detailed instructions, please refer to the video below. https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/h5f49js2ry7owdx7u131n/20241026.mp4?rlkey=hiezny59ttlshm4z13txkjq89&st=1z8n1nys&dl=0
I redid the tutorial. I found that there was a keyframe at 250. After deleting it and repeating the steps to the 9 minute mark…the Cyclic Modifier worked perfectly. Somehow a keyframe at 250 was set before I adjusted frames from 0 to 32. So maybe it would be a good practice to clear all keyframes at the beginning. For me at least.
At about 9:15 in this video, after I choose “Cyclic Modifier” my Z Location curve jumps straight up at frame -4. Your video shows a smooth bezier curve. I sent you an email illustrating this. Hope you can take a look at it. Thanks.
I saw the screenshot you sent, and the result doesn’t look correct. From what I can see, frames -4, 5, 12, 21, and 28 have keyframes, but I suspect there might be extra keyframes at other points as well—please double-check for those. If you don’t find any extras, you might want to confirm that you selected ‘Make Cyclic’ after pressing Shift+E, just like in the tutorial. If the issue persists, feel free to send me your project file, and I’ll help you take a closer look.
So am I understanding it correctly that to even use the reference videos you guys provided from Megapixl we need to pay a minimum of a $135 monthly subscription to be able to download more than one video to use in Blender for a reference?
You’re correct that accessing the full-quality videos from Megapixl requires a subscription. As course publishers, we’ve paid for the necessary licenses to use these videos in our educational content. This is an essential step in respecting copyright laws and supporting content creators.
For your personal projects, the situation is different. While we can’t advise on using copyrighted material without proper licensing, there are several legitimate options you might consider:
1. Many websites offer free stock videos and images for personal use. Websites like Pexels, Pixabay, or Unsplash could be good resources.
2. Some platforms provide lower resolution or watermarked versions of their content for free. These are often intended for testing or previewing purposes.
3. If you find a video or image you’d like to use, always check the licensing terms. Some creators offer their work under Creative Commons licenses, which may allow free use with attribution.
4. For learning purposes, you can often practice techniques by viewing reference materials without downloading them.
Remember, respecting copyright is crucial, even for personal projects. It’s always best to use properly licensed materials or create your own. This not only ensures you’re working ethically but also helps you develop original skills that are valuable in professional settings.
Okay, just wasn’t sure if I was missing something and we were supposed to have the material with the class or if we needed to pay to use the same reference that’s being used in this video. Thank you!

Once again thank you very much for taking the time to create the video showing me exactly how to correct the problem.

👍👍
Thanks Jerry, I could not see any other keyframes. Am sending you the file.

I googled it. You have to check “Allow Negative Frame Settings” in the preferences.
I cannot get into the minus direction on the Graph editor or the Timeline. How do you do that? I am in Blender 4.2.3
