At 21:20 I have a problem. I am unable to parent the bone, CTRL_stretch_spine_d, to the bone, CTRL_FK_spine_d. The “Keep Offset” is greyed out. What do I do? I tried this numerous times. I am in “edit” mode while trying to parent them. Thanks for any help with this.

If the “Keep Offset” option is greyed out when you’re trying to set up a parent-child relationship in Edit Mode, it usually means the bones are already parented, and the “Keep Offset” is already applied.

Actually somewhere along the way, one of the bones I was trying to parent got put into another collection. I started the video over and went slower this time and it worked. Bones don’t parent when in different collections! Thanks for the reply.

If two bones are in different Armatures, then it’s true that you cannot set up a parent-child relationship. However, if the bones are part of the same Armature, it’s not possible to separate them and place them in different collections.

My error. I forgot to set the category from Object to Bones in the Find and Replace. Sorry. Wish there was a way to edit a comment rather than to have to add a new comment. My apologies!

CTR+F2, the “Find and Replace” does not seem to work in Blender 4.2. I tried replicting your video at around 4:00 but it did not rename the bones. I went ahead and did them manually.

Also placing the bones in new layers in 4.2 is different than in 3.6. So I named them in a manner that I could know what bones were in what group.
